Rhino 6 splash screen is still annoying

Yep, I hear you. And for years and years, we’ve heard people complain about Rhino starting up behind other applications. There is code all over the place that tries to make Rhino come forward. The hardest part about fixing this problem will be finding all those places and deleting them

I would sleep like a happy user if all that ontopness were optional  probably ok to leave behind options in for those who want a naughty app ^.^

I am sad because of this rhinoceros 6

How to change it, though 2 lines have crossed?

Buying a license could help.

in the software section does not match, this auto in autocad

Actually all the shortcut options are no solution at all to the problem, because it just affects the behaviour when started with the shortcut (I never do that).
I guess a lot users starting Rhino by clicking a 3dm or whatever filetype is associated with Rhino.

For me its not the splash screen that’s annoying, its the fact that Rhino 6 takes the focus from whatever else you’re doing at least 3 times during startup. For example I could start Rhino then go check my emails but Rhino will grab the focus back from Outlook, meaning I can’t scroll etc without clicking in Outlook again.

This is one of the reasons I usually have quite a few instances open (8-12 average). I too am importing many different files all day, every day. If I had to wait for the Rhino splash screen I would have been complaining about it tons more on here. Instead I just keep instances open, drag’ndrop onto them usually, or use the open/import dialog.
No waiting, no annoying focus stealing. Files open in the background while I’m multi-tasking on something else.

This has been reported several times, also by Rhino devs internally. Not much has happened to fix that, though.

Why don’t you just close it by clicking the “X” in the upper right?

Because that still doesn’t prevent the instance from taking focus when it opens. Which is annoying AF, especially when I’m in the middle of a critical operation in my current window.

If it is a papercut, move this thread to: https://discourse.mcneel.com/c/serengeti/papercuts

The focus stealing happens even if the splash screen is disabled…

Guys I just want to say, I see the splash screen 20th time today already… as opening new and new files… and it is soannoying. Please make a solution and dont force me to watch this useless and ugly shit covering half of my screen. I payed for Rhino to work, Thanks

As someone else already asked, why not leave the program open?

The program is open… but as soon as I open a new file it runs the splash screen again and again…

But software should adapt to users need instead of reverse dont you think?

That’s strange. It doesn’t do that for me. The file just opens without the splash screen. Maybe you have a bug?

It opens with splash screen every time :frowning: and if the file is heavy it takes forever. Do you open files by clicking on the file icon or using “File” - “Open” in Rhino?
