I’ve noticed that in grasshopper 1.0, the point on curve component still displays the point even when disabled.

Don’t re-install, that won’t fix this. Updating to the newest available release might fix it, but it doesn’t seem important enough to abandon your current update schedule.
(looking into whether this was fixed since 6.5)…
Result; it hasn’t, it’s still happening on my own custom build, which uses the most recent code. Under certain conditions the problem may not be there which I suspect is what @wim is seeing, but I can definitely repeat here.
