Rhino 6: difference between SchnittEbene and ZuschneideEbene?

Hi @Joachim_Kuntz,

I’ve got this customer request. What is the difference between SchnittEbene and ZuschneideEbene?
https://www.flexicad.com/service/forum/index.php/topic,8842.0.html

My questions are:
What is the english command for SchnittEbene?
There is no help-topic about SchnittEbene. Is this an error?

Thanks

Michael

Section, maybe?

-Pascal

No, section is here Schnitt.

I’ll leave it to Joachim… =)

-Pascal

Anyway, thank you Pascal

See that’s why I hate software translations. I cannot work on Windows that’s translated to my native language :D.
Just use English version people! :slight_smile:

Hey IVELIN,

you won’t believe it, there are people who don’t (like to) speak English.

Cheers,

Michael

“Cutting plane”
Probably the CutPlane tool in Rhino

Oh, I know. :slight_smile: I live in Germany.
Also lived in France. The only two countries where people refuse to speak English even if they do it very well.

Now on the topic:
I assume:
SchnittEbene - CuttingPlane
ZuschneideEbene - ClippingPlane

As far as I know you can still use the English commands with _ (underscore) and compare the results to be sure.

Hi John,

yes, cutting plane means Schnittebene and it starts _CutPlane. But when I type SchnittEbene in the command line, I get a command similar to ZuschneideEbene (_ClippingPlane). Something seams to be wrong here. I hope Joachim can see the problem.

Thanks

Michael

Hi IVELIN,

Here is no command _CuttingPlane, only _CutPlane, and _CutPlane isn’t Schnittebene here.

Thanks

Michael

Shot in the dark - InfinitePlane?

-Pascal

Yes _CutPlane, my bad.

Hi Pascal,

thank you for the Peter Sellers poster, very good. :wink:

No _InfinitePlane command here.

Meet you tomorrow, I go to bed. Thanks

Michael

Used twice in localization, I guess.

$ grep Schnittebene de-de.xml
<RHINOSTRING_COMMAND_NAME English=“CutPlane” Localized=“Schnittebene” />
<RHINOSTRING_COMMAND_NAME English=“SectionPlane” Localized=“Schnittebene” />

$ grep Zuschneideebene de-de.xml |head
<RHINOSTRING_COMMAND_NAME English=“ClippingPlane” Localized=“Zuschneideebene” />

Hi Michael,

looks like another tough one. I vaguely remember: cut => schneiden (Schnitt), clip => zuschneiden, but I’m not sure. Please let me have a closer look to figure it out.
