Rhino 6.4 - Leader initally draws black, instead of layer color

I use a black background, and when I draw a text leader, it draws in black, which makes it difficult to layout. Once it is finished, it shows up as the proper layer color. All other annotations draw as the layer color.
Is there a way to change this?
