Rhino 6.4.18130.19341 Hang during Start-up

Hi All!

My Rhino 6 keeps hanging during start-up after I update it to Rhino 6.4. Is there any way that I can troubleshoot the problem? Below is the screenshot of the problem and I can’t pass through this page.

Hi @edison_1908,

Here are some questions:

  1. Do you click on anything on the splash screen?
  2. Have you tried waiting for the program to respond, say, 5 minutes?
  3. Have you tried if Rhino 6 in Safe Mode works?

-David

  1. No, it will run for few seconds and just got stuck like in the screenshot
  2. Yes, it will remain the same like the screenshot
  3. Yes, I can open Rhino 6 in Safe mode

Do you have any third-party plug-ins installed? If so, which?

as far as I know, none

@edison_1908,

When Safe Mode Rhino has started, go to Plug-ins and Disable all plug-ins (you might not be able to disable all of them, and that’s OK). Now start normal Rhino 6. Does it start?

If Rhino 6 starts, start enabling plug-ins until you can repeat the problem again. This way you should be able to find the problematic plug-in.

If Rhino 6 doesn’t start, then the problem is something other than a specific plug-in.

-David

Hi @DavidEranen

Sorry for the late reply, somehow the Rhino 6 able to load again that time without me doing any troubleshooting. However I face the same problem again today. Rhino 6 does not start again despite I tried to disable all the plugins. So I believe the problem might not because of the plugins.

I have update my Rhino 6.4 to 6.5

If you do manage to start your Rhino at some point it’d be useful to get the results of the Rhino command _SystemInfo.

I did manage to save it previously before the 6.5 update
here is the info:

Looks like the driver update that happened did the trick.

Hi @nathanletwory,

I still face the loading problem after the driver update. However I think I found what caused it to happen. The loading hang when I try to start Rhino 6 with 2 monitors. It does not hang when I start it just in my laptop screen on only. It’s funny that I didn’t notice this previously, only that I tried to start Sketchup with both screen on and it hangs too. I guess it is hardware that causing it?

I am guessing you have probably a built-in GPU as well. Perhaps see if an updated driver is available for it, and update to it if possible. It could help.
