Rhino 4 on Windows 7 Professional

Hi,

I have Rhino V4 on Windows 7 Professional. I just reloaded it recently onto a replacement SSD drive. Now when I switch in and out of the working windows (perspective, front , side, top) which ever window I’ve been in stays functional and all the others go black. When I right click into a new window it will come back but the others stay black.

Can anyone tell me what’s going on here?

Thanks,

Michael Deimen

Hi Michael,

First make sure you have all drivers and software up to date:

If you (already) did all this and you still have problems; what Videocard do you have?

Hi Willem,
I’m running an ASUS GeForce GTX550Ti, with PhysX by NVIDIA. I’m fairly certain we did your other suggestions last night with no change.

Hi Willem,
I tried to run the download you provided and I get a message saying that it is not a valid Win32 application.

Hi Michael,

Does the problem persist if you disable hardware acceleration in the Rhino options.

Found under Options OpenGL
Use accelerated hardware modes

Thanks for the tip. I’ll check when I get back to the computer later this evening.

HI Willem,

Turning off Hardware Acceleration appears to solve the problem! Thanks much for the assistance on this.

Hi Michael,

Wait we are only halfway there.
What that setting does is disable your GeForce card in Rhino. Now most display related calculations are done on the CPU and you are not profiting of its speed.

Again make really sure you have the latest drivers for that card installed and enable the hardware acceleration again. It should work or something else is wrong.
