Revolve problem serengeti

Hi . I am trying to make a vollyball box for my kids christmass gift and having a wierd time with revolve. When I try to revolve a curve to create a hollow ball it gives me a solid ball. maybe it is lack of knoledge.

I marked the curve that gave me problems.

Also general advice about an easy way to create a hollow sphere will be appreciated .

Thank you.

A hollow sphere is “non-manifold” geometry and considered “bad.” How are you planning to make this? If you’re 3D printing it you don’t need the inside surface, otherwise the inside and outside will be connected at some point so just use a sphere inside another sphere.

Thank you for that. What he wants is a choclate box that he can fill hense the need to hollow. Maybe I will try to split to the 2 parts and the hollow. Thanks again.

Hi @camelworks

I recall there was a technique of drilling a small hole into the solid to make it hollow but can’t recall how to do it. For 3d printing Jim makes a good point.

I deleted the two small curves in your file and created a revolve 180 degree then surf from the two edges, then join, then mirror. File attached of how I did it in V7.

Ok I remembered how to do it by drilling a small hole see file 3 attached.
