Retina display issues

Just installed v6 wip on a MacBook Pro with Retina 2880 x 1800 display (Win 8.1, Boot Camp, GeForce GT 750M, OpenGL page). I’m seeing the following issues:

  1. Status bar is squeezed to the left (image) - this is painful
  2. Osnap tooltips are displayed with a strange negative square (image above), unless you activate cursor tooltips under modeling aids (not a big deal then)
  3. Splash screen (see templates and news)

I’ve heard rumors that Windows 10 is supposed to handle high resolution screens better.
We won’t know until it happens.

err… I think we already know. Many of these bugs are our own fault that we need to fix

We do? That’s news to me, but that’s probably better since we can effect a change at some point.

Yes, there were also some rumors v6 will handle high res. better
This is generally very good display experience. Does anyone else with high res. see the status bar issues? That is the only one problem I have encountered so far that is really disturbing at work.

You didn’t get the memo? Just kidding.

There are a lot of high resolution issues that I’ve already fixed in V6 (toolbar buttons can actually be seen without magnifying glasses now, viewport tabs aren’t obscenely huge…), but it is a big project in general. All of these issues are things that we have control over and can fix without Windows attempting to guess the right answer.

I can see no improvement with the 3 issues I reported above. Squeezed status bar is still very painful. Are these registered as bugs?

Here is our list of “DPI aware” issues. Many are still not fixed yet

With a System Registry key addition and copying a manifest file to the folder where 64-bit Rhino V5 lives, you can fix the small icon problem on high resolution monitors.

The details are in this new FAQ support document:
http://wiki.mcneel.com/rhino/5/video/highres/toolbars_and_text_too_small_in_64-bit_rhino_5_on_high_resolution_screen

This also fixes the same issue for Grasshopper in 64-bit V5

I can see all the 3 issues I have reported (top of the thread) are fixed now. Thanks!
