Rendering Shutlines

So I’ve recently discovered the shutline tool, and it’s pretty great! However, when it comes to rendering, am I restricted to just using Rhino Render? I prefer to use maxwell for my rendering needs, and I’d also prefer to not “extract render mesh” everytime i want to render. Is this a Maxwell Plug-in issue? [in which case I’ll go ask them] or is there a step I’m missing in rhino to allow shutlines to render in other programs?

Many thanks,

J

It works great for V-Ray. I assume it will work for all renderers since it modifies the display mesh, which is what gets rendered.

It’s interesting, when I use the “Extract Render Mesh” command, it shows the mesh with the shut-lines. However, If I use “Show Render Mesh” it ignores the shutlines. Maxwell uses the unmodified meshes, unfortunately.

With V-Ray, I render directly in Rhino, so there is never a need to export or prepare the viewport meshes in any way. If I can see the effect, I can render the effect.

This is up to Maxwell to support

Works great in Thea Render as well - I was really happy when I discovered the Render Effects working there. My most used one is probably edge rounding though.

Cheers,

Tom
