Rendering can't get rid of noise even with denoiser

Hello,
I’m on a MacAir M1, and I can’t get totally rid of noise in the final render if I use depth of field, even with 500 passes. I seems like passed 100 passes there’s no more improvement.
Is that normal?

Make sure you have the denoiser before the depth of field effect. Below two versions of the same 2-sample render to illustrate.
