Rendering artic viewport with scene lightning fail

Hi
Trying to work with R6 WIP…
Boring as hell, i can’t render viewport in perspective with scene lightning.
Rendered jpeg only display AO but no light.
Actually it works 1 on 10 times…like R6

That’s not what other users are reporting or we are seeing.
Please run the Rhino SustemInfo command and post the results in a reply.

Let’s see how your system is configured.

Here it is:

I don’t see anything that should be a problem in that.
Your display driver is a year old so that’s a possibility.

Can you post a screenshot that shows the problem in your Arctic display please?
Make sure it’s set to Default settings.
Here’s a screenshot from my system:
image

That’s how it’s supposed to look.

BTW - Default Arctic, only uses Ambient occlusion lighting:

Hi
I updated the graphic driver with no change.
I work on a heavy scene and display spot lights, so this is not set to default.

Same bug on WIP even when cycle option is set to CUDA or CPU
I’ll try to post example with lighter scene tomorrow

R6 is way too far of a must have rendering plug-in, not for pro.

Maybe because it‘s a surface modeling software and no rendering plugin?

You aren’t using the default Arctic display mode then.
What is the effect you are trying to get?
Can you describe it?
Do you have another image that demonstrates what you’re after?

If you are using _Render (the Render button) with the default renderer Rhino Render you won’t be getting any of the Cycles goodies - those are only in the Raytraced viewport mode. If you want to get the Raytraced viewport mode results to a file you can use _ViewCaptureToFile (or _ViewCaptureToClipboard if you want to paste into an image processing software like GIMP).

The Rhino Render (default renderer in a new install) is a CPU-only renderer - no GPU used there at all.

Same for Arctic viewport - if you want to capture that use _ViewCaptureToFile or _ViewCaptureToClipboard.

I can’t figure out what visual effect @cratapout is after and so far they haven’t described it.
It seems strange to complain that “Arctic” uses ambient occlusion lighting when that’s basically precisely what it does.

Did you ear about Cycle?..

Hi
Maybe i didn’t explain very well
Scene set up to arctic mode , added spotlights, changed background color to darker, mat object to object’s color,
AO to darker one.
Then ViewCaptureToFile

Problem:
No spotlight is on, only dark AO due to color set up
Close scene ,restart, work fine 1 on 10

Maybe working on a cube and a sphere is not the most probant set up to test rendering, I have thousands of primitives and surfaces in scene.

I get it that what you tried didn’t work.
What we don’t yet understand is the “look” you’re trying to get.
