Sorry for the dumb question but is there a way to remove this edge from the cylinder?
no.
I don’t know how to precisely state the rules, maybe somebody else can get it better than me, but basically if you have a single surface with holes at either end of it, it has a seam somewhere. Similarly, you’ll notice there are no seamless spheres. You can move the seams if they’re in inconvenient places, but you can’t delete them.
Hello- you should be able to hide the seam in the Display panel > uncheck Tangen Seams, but it will still be there on the underlying geometry. However it seems there is a bug where tangent seams on extrusion objects ignore the setting - you will need to convert the object to a polysurface - ConvertExtrusion
> DeleteInput = Yes, in which case you also need to turn off display of surface isocurves. I’ll see if we can get that setting fixed.
RH-79190 Display: Extrusion objects ignore the Tangent Seams setting
-Pascal
Thanks for the quick response guys.
It’s actually not just a visual thing. I’m using the rhino geometry in CFD analysis and the ANSYS software interprets that seam as an extra edge, which can affect my sizefield. I can remove it manually in that software but since I’ve been trying to automate stuff, it would be nice to remove it in the geometry stage.
I’m pretty sure that will still be there even if I hide it with the settings, but I’ll give it a go just in case.
