Reference worksession layer

Hi

In Rhino 8, is it possible to reference geometry from a linked model (without importing)? Using the standard Query Model Objects component doesn’t seem to work.

Elefront can do this using their Reference By Layer component.

When you link a 3dm file, you are likely inserting that file as a block. If so, you’ll either need to explode that block instance, or get the block definition attributes to get to its layers.

Gh for Rh8: "Model Object" doesn't get info from attached objects

Hi @NilsO, Unfortunately linked or worksession models are still not supported on current implementation. We would like to add the concept of Model first. Then we will be able to reference content on other models than the active-main one. This will open other possibilities like coping-moving stuff from one model to another or compose models from several others.

Looks like I only read the body of the post, not the title. Yes, worksessions is something else. Not that that’s something I can test on my Mac here anyway…
I suppose that a workaround for the time being is to link as reference.
