Recommendations on licensing for Rhino plugins

Hi

I am looking for a user-friendly way to protect a Rhino plugin with a licensing system. Ideally the system supports both perpetual and subscription based licensing; the license should not be machine-based but the simultaneous use of the plugin should be limited to the ordered #seats per user. I would like to avoid the need for constant connection to the internet, user should be able to use the plugin offline. (although connection to internet for authorization is ok).

Any recommendations of what works well for Rhino plugins?

Thanks.

Worth having a look at Devolens - Flexible and Scalable Software Licensing

Both Python and C# and C++ API’s for you, supports the models you speak ok.

Would be nice if there was someone who had done the work to integrate it smoothly with Rhino’s Cloud zoo licensing system?

Thanks for your input! However, their pricing plans seems a bit steep for me. I’d be happy to reach about 100 users with the plugin, meaning I’m in a relatively high price range with Devolens.

Dear @Avondlicht
I wrote a similar topic quite a while ago:

I never found a ready made solution that allows small quantities at reasonable price and amount of work to implement. I wrote my own painful system which still is to much work to maintain…
still would love to find a ready made solution.

i know there are some rhino plug ins that use devolens former cryptolens.
https://www.softworkz.com looks quite promising as they charge fixed fee - but i do not know anybody with some experience of it…

please report back how you solved it.

kind regards - tom

I use Devolens, this video shows the user experience in buying a license in app:

I’m pretty happy with the service, tho current pricing does mean you need a certain level of business to be viable.

Cheers
