ReadViewportsFromFile doesn't support floating viewports?

Hi,

Our users have typically a dual monitor setup. They have to work with a shared template for tolerances and default layers and so on and of course they also favour their personal viewport layouts. Here I thought that ReadViewportsFromFile might come in handy, but the viewports that were floating on the other screen are docked in the main Rhino window again. Have I overlooked something?

i am not an expert on this but viewports need to be saved by “_namedview” for the command you ask to work.

Nope, saving the viewports using “_namedview” prior to reading them does not restore the floating state and position. Also executing ToggleFloatingViewport does not restore the position and size of the viewport when it was saved.

Hi Gerco - that is correct, imported floaters are docked- I’ll see if we can tune this up in V6.
