Randomize Texture on repeating objects

Hello Forum!

What is the most efficient way to randomize the texture positions on repeating objects (see attached example) to create more realism in renderings? Before I used “Randomize Texture” in C4D + Vray but we are trying to focus our workflow on Rhino only.

Thanks!
Bernhard

Hi @Bernhard_Maurer1,

In the Rhino 9 WIP, you can now use Grasshopper to randomize texture mapping offsets which will do what you are looking for here on multiple objects in unison. See the attached example…

Thank you! I will try that.

Hi, Brian

Would it be possible to have randomized textures and materials for Blocks? This has long been a feature request. I think OCS mapping was discussed as a possible solution. In unreal engine I think instances can have different texture offsets via “World Position Offset” values. 3ds Max also has this feature (Texture Randomization). It would be really nice If we could have that feature in Rhino too so we don’t have to migrate to other softwares just to achieve realistic material randomization.

Hi @attheeast18 ,

Thanks for the request. We have this filed as https://mcneel.myjetbrains.com/youtrack/issue/RH-64333 and I’ve added your comment there as well.
