R8 - Windows tray icon showing R7

Hi all -

I still have R7 installed in parallel with R8. When I open R8, the windows tray icon shows R7, even though R8 is running.

Is the only workaround removing R7? I’m not 100% confident I can do the total switch - UV mappings were busted as of a few weeks ago in R8, which made setting up some renders impossible…

Thoughts?

Best,

Tom

Another “workaround” is to just ignore the icon showing R7. It does not affect the functioning of either R8 or R7. You can continue to use both, and have both open at the same time on the same computer.

Yes, but it gets really confusing when you have both open! Not a big issue, just curious mostly.

It’s been discussed in several threads previously; at least one of which claims a fix.

yes

Really?
I’d like to know how to fix this. It’s bothersome.

As far as I remember, this is due to 7 and 8 (and older versions too) executable are all named “Rhino.exe”, which is useful for plugins backward/forward compatibility… but this leads Windows UI to fail distinguish the difference.
