Why isn’t Meter shown in Segment Uinits? My document unit is meter so it’s very weird it isn’t showing in the linetype property panel
Linetypes are only specified in imperial (inch) or metric (mm). Use the linetype scale or model space scaling to get them to the sizes you need.
then we shouldn’t use the word Unit to cause confusion.
Can we call it measurement system ?
Well, this whole system was inherited from AutoCAD (same as hatch patterns) - whose units are either imperial or metric… You can actually have linetype files (.lin) that you can import, like you can with hatch pattern files (.pat). That’s just the way it is…
The default linetypes that come with AutoCAD are stored in the ACAD.LIN or the ACADISO.LIN files in the support directory. These .LIN files are Linetype library files, or simply a collection of linetype definitions in ASCII (text) format.
The ACAD.LIN file is automatically used when an AutoCAD drawing is started with English units settings; ACADISO.LIN is used when an AutoCAD drawing is started metric settings. The two files contain the same linetypes, but the ACAD.LIN file’s linetypes are defined in inches while the other is in millimeters.
I am just sharing my views from a user perspective.
Calling it unit makes me think I could select the document unit.
Being unable to find the document unit makes me think this is a bug.
If you call it Measurement System.
And in the dropdown, you call it a) Metric b) Imperial
Then I understand I would have to change the numbers by myself.
