Questions on lighting & texture

Hello Rhino Community!

I am a novice in rendering in Keyshot. I would need advice and tips for rendering!

  • How can I cast the harsh shadow underneath the tabletop that is near my furniture legs away?

  • Can anyone tell me the different/ideal usage of the type of lighting? ( Area Light / Emissive / IES Light / Point Light)

  • What is the common/best use for casting a shadow on furniture?

  • Can anyone tell me the different/ideal usage of the type of texture? ( Diffuse / Specular / Bump / Opacity)

  • Are there any recommendation of good tutorials/blog post on such matters?

Thank you

A point light is pointing and area lights are often compared to soft boxes.

This is an IES light in Indigo:

The squares use an emitting material and the other lights are IES. Lights you can load a profile for.

You can setup a ‘studio scene’ or an ‘interior scene’ and find tons of videos on Youtube.
