Quad: Why?

Why is the quad-snap named “quad”?
That made me believe that it only can find the quarters of a circle. I just learned that it can find maximum and minimum on the x- and y-axis of any curve.

Best regards,
Niels

More shapes than just circles can have min/max XY points.
A circle is just an easily understood example.
Quadrant points have never been limited to just circles.

The main original function was to find the quadrant points on a circle or arc - hence the name. Then the possibility of local maxima/minima (relative to the active CPlane) was added - but a very, very long time ago. So think of it as “Quad plus”.
