Q: CloudCompare GrayScale pointcloud comes in as black

I just downsampled two massive (417M points) pointclouds in CloudCompare and imported to Rhino 7. One came in color full but the other came in black. The one that is black is grayscale in CloudCompare, so anybody kno why does this end up black in Rhino?

Reading the e57 resampled pointcloud back into CloudCompare shows the grayscale points again, so the data is in the e57 file.

OK, so I see that in CloudCompare one pointcloud has RGB colors AND ScalarField, while the other only has ScalarField. So this is the value that I can not choose to show in Rhino.

But CloudCompare has an Edit - Scalar Fileds - Convert to RGB function and running that and saving a new e57 solved the issue.

@dale
Can you add an option in Rhino to show Scalar Field as color directly?

Hei Jørgen -

I put that request on the heap the other day:
RH-92059 Display: Option to Display Intensity Values of PointClouds
-wim

Thanks Wim!
