Sussing-out which card(s) are compatible isn’t clear, seeming because ProRender ‘works’ (fairly well on Macs, comparatively) across a wide swath of HW/SW. See list here:
If we’re defining ‘works’ as best available hardware accelerated ray tracing (for your Mac that is) review this:
Also, these guys attempted some benchmarks with a bunch of cards.
As for what specifically the Rhino plugin for Mac supports (everything or a subset, eGPUs, etc?) - that’s a question for others…
Thanks all!
Lopez.
Did you find out any more info on this avenue? I’m trying to get a solid answer on the same setup you have, and only need acceleration for standard CAD work — don’t really care about rendering, at all.
I just need to model parts that have hundreds or small models connected to it. A 300MB file is normal, and CPU display modes make this almost impossible outside of wireframe. If I can get an eGPU to take on this load, then I’m all set.
rhino 7 only
Hi. Can you tell me where the prorender for rhino 7 is available? The mentioned link opens only 404 page.
If you scroll down on their site you won’t see Rhino listed:
So I guess it is discontinued.
Hi -
Run the Rhino PackageManager
and look for ProRender.
I don’t think it ever was listed on that page…

Thank you. I didn’n think about PackageManager. Now it’s installed and works
