Hi Forum, I’ve not managed to find an existing thread on this topic and I’m surprised that discussions on the below have not cropped up before.
I’m a big fan of using the block instance inputs in the properties pane to easily adjust rhino block transformations and swap out block instances for other definitions. I have noticed a shortfall of this with the order in which the definitions appear in the dropdown list as this seems to follow a ‘date created’/‘imported’ order rather than being nicely sorted alphabetically like in the block definitions manager. It becomes a bit cumbersome to use the swap out feature when there is a large number of definitions in the model with naming conventions in place since it becomes tricky to spot the right block name in the seemingly unsorted list.
Any chance a future build could expand the sorting option in this pane to give a bit more flexibility as to the order the definitions appear in this list? I’m aware of the ReplaceBlock command which can be used, but requires you to go through additional clicks and a pop-up to get to a sorted list of definitions. The easy access in the properties pane makes the dropdown method much more user friendly.
