I have seen a number of interpretations of the meaning of the lyrics of the song. It was written at a time when I do not believe lab diamonds were able to be made in quantity and of jewelry quality. So in his song it is natural diamonds. In your fishing lure model I think ? I see some sapphires. As a fun amount [the absolute true amount is immaterial and variable] to have natural diamonds of soles on one’s shoes one says the cost is $100,000.00 USD per shoe sole. Your Lure in natural diamond, and I would consider platinum- just as the diamond sole shoes are worn, so to, is the lure used or fishing. So we say it cost $25, 000.00.
In lab diamonds I have seen prices 1/5 those of natural [ apparently graded as equivalent to natural]. Fun- so you could make your lure - still pricey- and use it. It has been a long time since I have been an angler - big mouth Bass and Pike- but I imagine at relatively shallow depths [ still lots of light] it would catch fish.
