Dear McNeel-Team,
I work quite a lot with large scanned pointclouds and since being able to only clip certain layers with clipping planes I use this feature a lot to crop these pointclouds while working on smaller details and want to keep the context / the rest of the model visible. That’s a great workflow - with the downside, that as soon as I don’t draw on the visible side of the clipping planes - also when drawing on layers that shouldn’t be affected (not included in the “Include Selected” sectin), I don’t get snaps while drawing (“self-snaps” during the drawing process). As soon as the curve is finished/added to the document, I get snaps on it as expected. As these internal snaps are something I rely on quite a lot on during drawing, that’s a bit annoying ![]()
I prepared a small file to illustrate what I mean.
A simple box cut by a clipping plane. The plane’s “Include Selected”-Option is set to the box’s layer. If I try to draw on an unclipped layer on the hidden side of the clipping plane, no snaps are being shown:
On the other side it works as expected:
Here’s the file:
ClippingPlaneSnapTest.3dm (51.7 KB)
Is there anything you can do about this?
Please tell me if you need mor information to be able to reproduce.
Thank you!
