Hi everyone! I’m a very begginer at Rhino and i have a coursework in class to try create an object of our choice. I’m trying to recreate this racket but i have problem with joining the pieces together. I also can’t find a tutorial to help me watch and create. I have done some tries but the Y-branch won’t close and also the handle of the racket. I also tried joining together the head made with the command pipe and the Y-branch but nothing. Tried boolean it does something but the Y-branch won’t close. Can someone help me? Or is there any Rhino tutorial can’t find that can help me create this? If anyone is willing to help i will be very thankfull cause i’ve been trying the whole week and i see no light, it’s urgent cause this coursework will base my grade. Thank you so much for your time!! <3
This kind of tennis rackets are either made of a composite material or use welded Y-shaped aluminum handle. The latter means that the blend that you want to achieve is not super smooth. Instead, it has a gentle “step” where the Y-shaped handle wraps around the elliptical part that holds the cord.
Some tennis rackets use a different approach. Instead of using a separate Y-shaped handle, their entire body is a single bent profile, except that the bottom of the cord is held by a welded or glued piece that closes the ellipse.
The image in your file is very low-resolution. Best is to first find high-resolution close-ups of modern tennis rackets with Google Advanced Image Search, so you can choose and study in detail the formal aesthetic you want. This helps you to find a suitable patch layout that you can draw on top of the photos or on paper. Also realise that you only need to model the primary domain, because a tennis racket has twofold symmetry.
