Problem of snapping a point

I want to connect a road segment to a main road. The small segment has a different level from the main road only.
I tried to check the vertical distance between them. However, it showed “projected end”, “projected point” etc. and I couldn’t snap to the point what I wanted.
Why did the system automatically switched to “projected point” instead of “point”?

its part of the object snap
(try to find it there)

or type
_ProjectOsnap
into the command line and turn it off.
