Problem assigning colors to mesh

Hello
One of my student, sent me the attached file. and I didn’t find the error in a mesh when we try to apply a different color (at this moment is black)
does anybody could take a look and show me a possible explanation?
at this moment I just found that if I export the object as a STL, I reset the object properties and solve the problem. But inside the original file I didn’t found where is the problem

The Emission color is set to black, under Advanced settings

I already tried to modify it there, and for example I change the colour to white for example, and then when I apply now red material, this still don change

Also, in Shaded mode ther is black too and I can’t change the visualizatio colour, only the wireframe colour change

Hi Jesus - it looks like this mesh has vertex colors assigned - try RebuildMesh to clear that.

This is a Obj file property? or this could be created in rhino?

Hi Jesus - if you did nothing to add the vertex colors in Rhino then I guess it came in via the obj - post the obj if you like.
