Printing PDF on OS X Ventura In Rhino MAC 7 is slooooooow

Hej Johan -

I’m afraid screen shots are of little use to help troubleshooting this. If you can’t post the 3dm file here in public, perhaps you can privately upload it here - Rhino - Upload to Support - with reference to this thread?
Also, please provide your SystemInfo data.
-wim

Will do that on monday.

I have send the 3DM file, and my system info is

Same problem here like others.

Hi Johan -

Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste that text here.

I’ve also just uploaded a file to support.

me pasa igual, y me sale error y se cierra, al día me pasa eso 3 o 4 veces, rhino7 Mac

Thank for your patience. I was finally able to reproduce this with the help of your files (thank you!) and some help from @Bernat :raised_hands: .

We have an issue logged for this, but due to the file-specific nature of this bug, it’s not public.

We have not dug into this yet at all. However, the performance in the RhinoWIP (using Metal - which you can enable with the TestMetal command) is much better. It’s not optimal, but workable.

Any updates to this?

Hi again, I am also wondering about the recommended ‘Export’ command instead of ‘Print’. When I run ‘Export’ it wants me to select something, which is how I have always used it. But I am just trying to print layouts to a PDF. Can ‘Export’ do this? Using the ‘Print’ command in either V7 or the WIP in Ventura leads to a fancy new print dialogue box that feels clearly broken. All the page previews show the same image even though they are all different. Anybody have suggestions for printing a selection of Layout pages?

I’m still actively working on this issue. There is nothing to test yet

Hi Carter -
As for this part:

When in a layout, you can use the ExportAll command.
-wim

ExportAll does the trick. Thanks!

As of now, the Rhino pdf export is not much of a help on my side as it struggles with several characters - see this

And just a bug note about ExportAll: If I run the command, and select format as PDF, it will then pop up the print dialogue box, but if you start selecting layouts BEFORE hitting the button for ‘Multiple Layouts’ it will go into a bit wonky. It won’t make the PDF correctly, and then goes into a quiet freezing mode where it is still useable but the windows will no longer be able to be closed or minimized, nor can the program be quit.

I am on a 16-inch 2019 Macbook Pro Intel with AMD Radeon Pro 5500M.

Hi Carter -

It crashes immediately here when I do that.
RH-72274 ExportAll: Crash when switching to “Multiple Layouts”

At any rate, from this discussion, it sounds like you could give the TestPDFExport command a try…
-wim

Thanks, Wim.

ExportAll actually does work for me. But only if I select the Multiple Layouts option first, and then select WHICH layouts I want. That order of operations does work in ExportAll.

RH-71874 is fixed in Rhino 7 Service Release 27 Release Candidate
