Printing in Color Only Prints Black & White in v8. v7 is Fine

This file prints fine to either of my printers in color in v7. In v8 it shows in the print dialog box in color but only will print b/w. Any ideas? Is there a setting somewhere besides the printer’s print settings?

Hi @Mike24 ,

Can you install the upcoming 8.5 service release candidate and see if that solves your issue?

You can use the instructions in this link

Just upgraded to the latest SRC and unfortunately no change. Still only printing in B/W even though the preview is in color. Any other ideas?

I have disabled all plugins and these are automatically enabled on startup. The problem still exists even though the rest of the plugins have been disabled so it’s probably not a plugin issue.

Any other ideas? I just upgraded to the latest version today as well. Can you ask around on this one because I’m stuck.

Hi @Mike24

Can you run the _SystemInfo command and paste the results here.

Hi @Mike24 thanks for the system info. I can see that you’re on SR 6 and we haven’t been able to repeat this issue internally on that version. Can you tell me what the make and model of the printer it is that’s having the issue? Do you know if you have issues with any other printers or pdfs?

Ok…this is really odd because I can print anything from any other application to the 2 printers in color no problem. Rhino v7 works just fine, it’s just v8 that I’m having an issue with. Both of my printers have this issue.

Epson Workforce WF-7840
Brother MFC-L8900CDW

Maybe it would be best if one of your software techs / engineers take time to use remote control software to look at this machine and what’s going on. If someone there has Whatsapp, we could have a video call so I can show the results immediately. Any thoughts on this?

Hi @Mike24,

I made a YT a few days ago which included some print problems we’re seeing from other printers. I am of the current belief that all of these issues are related. RH-81193

@Trav - Ok great. Glad to know the engineers know about it so it can be fixed.

Hi @Trav - The status of this bug is State: Submitted → Next Up. Does that mean it’s up next to be fixed? That status was posted 2 months ago. I have the latest RC nightly build and it’s not fixed yet. Any ideas when it will be fixed? It’s a bit annoying to have to print to a PDF and then print the PDF. For some reason printing to a PDF works while printing color to Epson and Brother printers does not work.

Hi Mike,

I had the same problem with printing only in black and white and only from Rhino 8 on single PC, other was ok. In my case I’ve updated ASP.NET Core to 7.0 ( Download ASP.NET Core 7.0 Runtime (v7.0.20) - Windows x64 Installer ). I found the solution accidentally, because I had problem with HOPS for Grasshopper.
