Print does not retain the layout properties configuration

I have my layout properties set to Arch D going to our Designjet T2530. However, if I print to something else, like a tabloid size on a different Minolta printer, I notice the next time I go to print the Arch D layout the print dialogue shows that printer’s info. Shouldn’t the Rhino Arch D layout properties reset the Rhino print dialogue to those settings in that’s the layout I’m now sending to the printer?

As I understand it, the last-used printer is remembered, and the print size is stored with the printer. The default RhinoPDF printer has an option to use the layout size as the page size, but your physical printer might not have that option.

Hmm? So, Layout properties are just a reminder of the layout sizes and printer chosen? It seems it would be more useful if the layout properties information was sent to the Rhino Print dialogue and it switched to the printer and paper size in the properties.

The layout properties are the size of the layout in paper space, independent of any printer. I’m not sure if it would be possible to replicate the “Use Layout Page Size” checkbox feature from the Rhino PDF printer to other printers that may have their own ways of managing paper sizes. It would be a nice feature to have, but it might be a lot of work or not possible at all to do for non-native printers.

Press the print icon from the Layouts dialog. Or… with the print dialog open press the Cancel button, this will clear any settings you’ve adjusted and revert to using the layout info the next time you print from the layout. On the flip side, pressing the Close / Print buttons stores any settings you’ve twiddled and keeps them for your next print.
