Popup Menu with 3D Mouse

When using a 3D mouse with both the mac and windows version of rhino, how do I map a button on my 3D SpaceMouse to pop up the popup menu or the right click menu?

Win Rhino:
Options>Rhino Options>3D connexion buttons

Mac Rhino:
Preferences>3D connexion

What would the command to type into the button action box be for the popup on mac?

showtoolpalette T popup A Y enter

Thanks!

This feature was wonderful and I have been using it for years. It is part of my workflow and now it seems it does NOT work anymore with Rhino 8!

Has anyone figured this out yet? I would love to hear how to setup a custom popup menu button again in Rhino 8 for Mac. Any help is appreciated.

“Unknown command: showtoolpalette”

Hello- use

-ShowToolbar

in V8. With the dash in front.
Does that do it?

-Pascal

I am using this macro for a key-combination (option+q in my case), but I guess it could be added to a mouse button as well:
!_PopupToolbar _Popup

Max.

Thank you for your help but this opens a toolbar (which looks like it comes out of Windows 98) and does not serve the same function as the Popup menu I am used to in order to instantly access tools with minimal mouse movement.

The tool menu I hope to access with a spacemouse button should look like this:

I certainly hope we as Mac users did not get downgraded in terms of functionality. The new layout and interface sure looks terrible in V8 and is not contributing to the pleasure I used to find in working with Rhino. Hopefully improvements will be made in that department soon…

When I have V7 open and active at the same time as V8 and use the button configured as !_PopupToolbar _Popup
I do get the old style menu showing up! Such a weird behaviour…

And the V8 toolpallette changes appearance after you try to move it… What the heck is going on here?

FYI: I bought V8 months ago and have yet to use it because of all these issues. Staying on V7 for the time being. Looking forward for a developer to join the conversation and help us to make sense of this.

The -ShowToolbar command does open the menu in V8 although most of the tools are greyed out and not usable. AND ONLY if V7 is running in the background.

If I don’t have V7 running it shows:
It asks for the name of the toolbar to show.

It does open at the current cursor position, so the only difference is menu vs. icons style…

But you can change that by selecting Window > Toolbars, and tick “Cascade as menu”

However, this then applies to all flyouts…

yes it does look ugly. instead of making the windows version look better they just made the Mac version uglier. so boxy and sharp :face_vomiting:
