Yes, this is a classic, the problem is not too many points, but polycurves that have segments too short at the joints to allow the fillet of a given radius. FilletCorners does not know how to jump to the next segment and ignore the segment(s) that will get removed anyway - but the Fillet command does apparently, so this should be fixable…
One workaround is to offset the curve to one side by the fillet radius - using Corner=Round, then re-offset the offset curve back. That should effectively fillet all inside and outside sharp corners…
