Plotter Problem

Hi,

Just upgraded from rhino 5 to rhino 6. Everything went smooth. Only plotting to a HP Designjet 500 does not work. The Situation is as follows:
Rhino 5 and Rhino 6 are installed parallel on the same machine (W10 1703 Domain-member), both versions work without Problem
Two Network printers are attached: a Ricoh universal Printer and a plotter
Rhino 5 can print on both devices also on Adobe pdf and Microsoft pdf
Rhino 6 can print on all Printers except HP Plotter. If you select the plotter no printjob is generated. even the small Progress window does not come up.
We tried different Drivers without sucess.
The same Problem we can see on all our machines machines (with slightly different W10 Versions).

How can we solve this ?

Greetings,
Michael

Hello - sorry for the delay - I am checking on this.

-Pascal

Hello,
Are there some (good) news about this?

-Michael

Hi Michael,
I haven’t heard any reports of this type of problem before.

Have you tried printing something as simple as a rectangle out to this printer in vector output mode?

I’ll try installing the HP DesignJet 500 printer driver on my computer to see if anything unusual happens.

Yes, we did, result was the same.
Thank you for your help

Hello Steve,

Do you have some new Information ?

Please, can you tell me what happend when you tried the Designjet 500 Driver???

@stevebaer - do you have any clue about this one?

-Pascal

Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. I installed a HP Designjet 500 driver on my computer and was able to print to a file (that was my only choice since I don’t actually have this physical printer at my disposal). I’ve never heard of this happening before.

Is the Rhino 5 that you are using the 32 bit version or the 64 bit version? I’m asking because the print drivers may be slightly different for each version.

Sorry for the delay, this is the 64 bit version

Is there any news about the issue with printing on a HP Designjet 500 PS with Rhino 6 ?

No news from us.
This isn’t something Rhino has any control over.
If you can install a Windows driver and print a test page from Windows, then it should show up on the list of printers in the Rhino Print command.

I just installed Rhino7 and I have the same issue with my HP Designjet 800ps. Try to print to printer and absolutely nothing happens. Can print to HP standard size inkjet printer without any problems. Designjet printer is there in the print dialog window, it just won’t print. @John_Brock said I need to print to Rhino PDF, create a print file, open the file as a PDF and print from there…So I did this and the file blew up my printer processing time to a ridiculously long lag in printing. Long story short, I am having to save the file as a Rhino5 file, open it in Rhino5 and print from there! (Which works flawlessly)
Unfortunately, if this issue can’t be resolved, I have absolutely no use for any versions newer than V5.
Hope you can fix this and fast. Respectfully, Tim
