Planarization with genetic algorithms

I am interested in planarization process of shells carried out by using Galapagos or similar tools. I’ve already carried out planarization with Kangaroo and Kangaroo 2 but I was wondering if I could have an improved process with this approach and how I could set the process in Grasshopper.

Any suggestions would be very useful.

I think genetic algorithms typically aren’t very good for tackling problems like mesh planarization, where you have thousands of degrees of freedom.
They’re more useful in situations where you have a small number of input variables, and no clear way to define a gradient.
