Planar decal showing on multiple faces

Hello!

I’ve started using decals (handy!), but I’ve noticed that planar decals seem to be projecting on multiple faces like so:

This is what things look like with the decal widget enabled:

What option do I appear to be missing so that it only projects on the front surface?

this is one object has two faces facing the same side so Decals will be projected on both faces , this is how decals work as far as i know ,

you need to separate the part .

Was hoping there was an option I was missing, but it is what it is.
