Plan viewport doesn't select everything

Hi!

When I make a selection with drag-right or drag-left, in plan view, not every curve is included in the selection. It seems that it’s the shorter/smaller curves that are not included (not allways short curves though), so I have to zoom in and add those to the selection, which is not very good a workflow.
I’m aware of the difference between the two selection functions, and I’m sure that all curves are within the marked area, and on the same Z plane as well.

Perspective view does not do this, and works like it should.
Both in v7 and v8.

Any solutions?

Thanks,
Mikkel

Hej Mikkel -

This sounds like a file-specific issue. Please provide both a 3dm that we can check and the output of the Rhino SystemInfo command.

Hi.
It accurs in every file I work in, and I recall that this was also an issue when i had Rhino 7.
A test file is attached.

Hej Mikkel -

Thanks for the file. If this happens in every file and multiple versions of Rhino, we’d have lots of reports about this issue. It’s looking more like a system-specific at this point.

When I window-select left-to-right everything in the top viewport, I get:

52 block instances, 235 curves, 37 texts added to selection.

When I do this in the perspective viewport (after zooming to extents), I get the same number of objects.

If you open the file that you attached here, and then immediately left-to-right window select from the top-left corner of the maximized viewport to the bottom right, do you get different numbers? If not, is there a specific workflow that makes this report different numbers?

A longshot, but when you disable the 3rd party plug-ins and restart Rhino, does the problem remain?
-wim

When I left-to-right select i get:
51 block instances, 215 curves, 37 texts added to selection.

Right-to-left gives me:
51 block instances, 215 curves, 25 texts added to selection.

A few objects less that in perspective:
52 block instances, 235 curves, 37 texts added to selection. (same as you)

After i did this…

I disabled all enabled plug-ins and the problem is solved…

So, should I just go through the list and seek out the one that causes trouble?

Yes. But you can probably limit that to those:

-wim

Wim,
I have tried disabling all of the plug-ins on the list and then bit by bit enabling, until I finally had them all checked again… Oddly (for me at least) the issue is gone. But all checkmarks should be the same as before. I can’t make sense of this.

I also tried enabling the ones you refer to, VRay, VisualArq etc., but no difference whether enabled or not.

It’s solved for now I guess, by having all of them reloaded. But i’ll let you know if this changes.

Thanks for now!

I notice your Nvidia driver is from 2023. Although it apparently has nothing to do with this issue, it probably wouldn’t hurt to update it.

Thanks, I’ll do that!
