Pink Rendering Environment

Hi all,
I am having an issue where light is rendered with a pink hue regardless of what I do. I was hoping I could get some guidance here.

This seems to happen to other people when a environment texture is missing but in my case It happens when using anything other than an HDRI; like physical sun texture, single color, etc…

It might be important to note that this issue started when I migrated to a more capable computer, including a generous GPU. Also, this happens with existing and new files alike. I’m stumped!

Thank you!

Please run the Rhino command _SystemInfo and post the result in a reply.

Although it shouldn’t impact the raytraced part it still is good to updated to a driver from 2024.

I checked on my M2 with an internal Rhino 8.7 build and this indeed appears to be broken. Not sure yet when this happened, it used to work. I hardly ever use physical sky texture, so it went unnoticed. Thanks for reporting. Logged as RH-81322 Physical Sky texture broken

@Diego_Fernandez_Mora , I have landed a fix for this in 8.6 service release candidate. It should go out with the next service release candidate of 8.6 at the end of the day or tomorrow.

And here it is: RH-81322 should be fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 6 Release Candidate.

RH-81322 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 6

Hi. Sorry to dredge up a resolved thread, but I am having the same issue. I have a 2020 Macbook Pro that I run rhino 8 through Bootcamp. I do this as I teach Rhino to students who are on Windows machines. I want what I am doing to be exactly what they are doing. Otherwise I would just use the mac version. Here is my system info:

Can you share a simple file that shows ping rendering environment?

Hi. I will do this in the morning. It’s my work computer and I am now at home. I did test with multiple files and even a new file. All the same. Raytrace view and render outputs.

Oops. Sorry about that. That was my license managing account. Same person here.

I figured based on the name

Example Building for Rendering No Materials.3dm (8.6 MB)

This file works fine on the Mac side on both this computer(Intel from 2020), and my personal computer(Macbook Pro M2). But not on the Windows side of this computer(Intel).

An additional note is that I reinstalled the latest Radeon Driver, but no improvement.

I will check the file when I have access to my Windows machine.

As far as I can tell this file opens and renders fine with Raytraced / Rhino Render. No pink environment.

You should double-check if the file referenced in the environment actually exists on your machine

It is according this file searched for at C:\Users\Carter\AppData\Roaming\McNeel\Rhinoceros\7.0\Localization\en-US\Render Content\Textures\RhinoSky.hdr

If it doesn’t exist maybe run a repair on your Rhino installation.
