Performance Issues with Large Model (Help)

Hi @fsalla
I’m having performance problems with a large model (approx. 300 MB).
I wanted to open an old file because the project is now ongoing again. It was created in VA about 2–3 years ago. At that time, it was already quite slow, but now I have a fairly powerful machine — and it’s still running slowly.
I wanted to use it now with VA3.

Could you please take a look?
Is there a way I can send you the file—maybe a dowload link via email?

Hi @user2745
Thank you for reaching out.
Sure, you can send an email to visualarq@asuni.com attaching the file (or a download link) so we can investigate the issue.
Best,
Melissa

Additionally, I noticed that when the message “This VisualARQ document needs to be upgraded” appears, and I do select “Do not regenerate geometry” instead of “Regenerate geometriy”, the performance is manageable. - could be better.

I have the same problem. I thought it was because my computer wasn’t powerful enough. I just bought a new machine for €3500 and it barely improved anything. Rhino freezes as soon as I perform an operation on a model with complex and heavy elements (curtain walls, for example). It’s almost impossible to use VARQ for professional work in the construction industry as a result…

For your information, I removed the complex slabs and curtain walls from my model, and it no longer crashes… As soon as I put either one back, it starts again. I think that:- curtain walls are problematic as soon as there are many elements- the new functionality for intersecting slabs with walls causes a lot of problems and crashes (for very little added value, in my opinion)… Would it be possible to allow disabling it in the options???

Hi @guillaume.dupas we are currently revising related issues with complex curtain walls that make the modeling very slow. Are those curtain walls extended to slabs?
Before removing the slabs, does Rhino crash or does it hang? can you share that file so we can try to reproduce these errors? that would be a big help for us to fix them.
