PDF messes up measurements

Hello,

I have a problem with PDF layout. I delivered PDF layouts of a sunglasses model to my customer and he delivered them to China for manufacturer. The Chinese manufacturer says there is problem with measures in PDF, he says the sunglasses frame width is 91.4 mm though it actually should be 129 mm. So everything scalestoo tiny in the model. What to do?

I have checked Rhino settings and PDF settings and units and scaling should be correct as far as I know.

I’m a student so I’m not a professional 3D-modeller so the problem could also be easy to solve and I just don’t get what I am doing wrong.

Thanks for anyone who can help.

Did you re-import the PDF you sent out back in Rhino to check? --Mitch

I did it now, there seems to be a problem. Measurements have changed when I check them with dimension tools. What is the problem?

Well, I suspect that there was some scaling to fit the “paper” size when the file was exported - but there’s no way to know for sure.

For manufacturing, I generally recommend exporting a 2D or 3D model - .dxf, .iges, .step etc., plus perhaps a pdf illustrating the object with some explanations and basic dimensions. Manufacturing directly from only a PDF is risky IMO.

Thanks for answering! Yes, you may be right, I just can’t figure out the problem when I’m checking out the settings. I also sent .iges file, hopefully they will get the mold and stuff all good with it.
