Hey folks,
I´m struggling with exporting my architectural plans to PDF neatly.
Inside the Layout View things look (mostly) as I want them but when exporting to PDF some aspects look different.
My current workflow:
- Inside the model space, I normally work with the “Monochrome” display mode.
- Walls are drawn in 3D using solids,
- doors are being drawn in 2D using blocks.
- The floor plans are created using clipping planes and the command “SaveClippingSectionViews”.
- Those saved views are then placed onto layouts via details.
For PDF export, I´ve now tried two different display modes inside the Detail of my layout, both creating different problems.
PrintDisplay is set to ON
test 1 : display mode of detail set to “Monochrome”:
A) all looks nice in the layout space. (see “screenshot test 1-a”)
B-C) When hitting option+P (on Mac) to print to PDF, the Print pop up opens. The preview here already looks different: doors are not been shown anymore and overlapping walls create white lines. (see “screenshot test 1-b” and “…1c”)
D) The exported PDF: doors (drawn as 2D blocks) missing, thin white lines shown where walls (drawn as 3D solids) overlap. (see “screenshot test 1-d”)
test #2 : display mode of detail set to “Wireframe”:
A) In the layout space, unwanted hidden lines are being shown. (see “screenshot test 2-a”)
B-C) Same in the print popup (see “screenshot test 2-b” and “…2-c”).
D) Same in the exported PDF. (see “screenshot test 2-d”)
BOTTOM LINE
Both outputs are currently unusable for me.
I´d much prefer to export with the detail´s display mode set to “monochrome” as this is the mode I´m working on in the model space and all looks nice there (as well as in the layout space).
The problem seems to be between the layout space and the print popup, as this is where problems are first visible. I’ve tried different settings for the display modes. Also different settings in the print popup. All without success.
I´d very much appreciate if someone can help me out!
