Could you run Rhino with logging enabled and send us the text file that is produced?
Enable Debug Logging in Rhino for Windows [McNeel Wiki]
-wim

RhinoDebugMessages.txt (30.0 KB)

RhinoDotNetTraceLog.txt (1.2 MB)

installing a yak file by just drag n drop works.

I tried switching between NETCore and NETframework v8 / v7, doesn’t change anything

Hi @wim, do you have any updates on this topic yet?

I uninstalled rhino and reintalled it, but sll connection error stays.

anyone else at rhino can give me advise. Seem it’s related to some setting in my browser/windows system

Even after full uninstall, including all left-over folder and reinstall, i still get this message that SLL connection cannot be established.

I tried it with R9 WIP, and that also doesn’t load.

We have a person in the Barcelona office with the same issue and have been trying to figure that out. We added more information in debug logs in 8.31 but so far that hasn’t helped fixing this.
I’ve added this conversation to the thread.
-wim

Ok, thanks for the update.
what i tried thus far (unsuccessfully)

  • SetDotNetRuntime, changed from NETCore to NETFramework (or vice versa)

  • windows firewall > added outbound rules for Yak and Rhino exe

  • set windows time to automatically instead of manual (for sll handshake)

  • in browser I can see txt file in https://yak.rhino3d.com/info

  • run as admin command “certutil -urlcache * delete” to clear .NET cache

  • network & internet proxy: turned On / Off “Automatically detect settings”

  • Check if it was related to having software like Python (Anaconda), Git, or curl is installed, run in PowerShell “Get-ChildItem Env:SSL_CERT_FILE, Env:CURL_CA_BUNDLE, Env:REQUESTS_CA_BUNDLE -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue” but result was blank

  • UncheckedCheck for publisher's certificate revocation +

Check for server certificate revocation in Internet Properties

  • I don’t have VPN or 3rd-party antivirus

….

Seems i was to optimistic only seems ti work for couple of seconds after a windows restart. so possible the above had nothing to do with it

all in R8 SR29

It is possible that McNeel are doing something with security at their end. There’s another issue (albeit with 8.30) here: Bongo fails to load in latest Rhino 8 release

@wim it’s a long shot but it seems to be related to Intel Killer Performance Suite. It intercepts SSL handshakes to see what kind of data is being sent so it can prioritize games. When I disabled the Prioritization Engine i could load the Package Manager and install all needed plugins

  1. Open the Killer Intelligence Center

  2. Go to the Settings

  3. Turn OFF the Killer Prioritization Engine.

  4. Turn OFF Auto Bandwidth if it is on.

  5. Restart Rhino and test.
