Outline style for Custom Preview

Is it possible to have create an outline similar to Pen display style when using Grasshoppers Costum Preview component? I am creating an animation, so I can’t bake it.

I tried deconstructing the mesh but it does not look good and this is from a very heavy model.

I am on Rhino 8.

pen display is running on technical display pipeline. I don’t think it is possible to get this to work with grasshopper preview.

But you could automate baking and deleting of geometry for each frame.

You can extract the edges and use Custom Curve Preview component and set custom linetypes…

I tried that, but it does not achieve the cleaner look of the Pen Style. Would there be something I could do to clean up the mesh?

I would try to extract just the unwelded edges.

How would I do that? I can’t find a component for that.

It can be done with a script like this:

mesh_box_unwelded_edges_c.gh (12.7 KB)

Worked perfectly! Only problem seems to be the cylindrical objects, but I can live with that.

Thank you for replying so quickly!

I just realized that a much easier way to achieve this is to use content cache component. The process runs much slower, but might be able to use some clipping planes as well.
