OT: would Subd supersede Srf modeling?

As in the title I wish to ask your opinion on how much Subd modeling will supersede surface modeling.
what do you expect to see in the next years?
and in 5 years?

Not likely.
It’s different from NURBS surface modeling.
It’s just another tool that is more useful in some circumstances than NURBS surface modeling techniques.

Hi @skysurfer
I my opinion, it’s like asking if you would rather use a saw or a hammer - it really depends on the job. If I were to insert a nail in a plank, the hammer would be my weapon of choice; if I were to divide the plank in two, the saw would be preferable. If I’m modelling something with hard edges, lots of curvature changes etc. I’d go with NURBS; If it’s more organic with flowing surfaces, I’d go with Sub-D.
