I’ve read several times on the user forums that have problems with the zoom, in particular they can not be zoomed beyond a certain level and then the model seems to hang. I learned a few days ago a little trick to be able to make a more extended zoom and prevent it from seizing up.
Hi Simon - when zooming in that close, it is usually better to simply switch the projection to parallel.

Also, CMD+RMB gives more controlled zoom.
