Origami continuous skin

I am trying to create a model that looks almost like this image. I am modeling the pattern through grasshopper using some scripts I gathered online and I am trying to apply it to a surface. My issue is that the surface morph command on grasshopper does not maintain a uniform pattern and instead distorts it, and I cannot get the results I would get with modeling the same thing physically.
Is there a way I can get this to work?
