Optimize reinforcement - Mass output

Hello!

I have a question regarding the optimize reinforcement-component.

I am modelling a concrete deep beam as a shell structure using Karamba. I have connected my model output from the “Analyze model”-component to the optimize reinforcement-component, and I want to find the optimum minimum web reinforcement in kg that is required.

From my understanding, the optimize reinforcement-component is based on the sandwich model approach of Marti.

Firstly, do I understand it correctly that the mass output, “Total mass of reinforcement after optimization in kilograms”, is the total mass per layer and direction?

My final question is, how does the connection work between the input “Areas” to the shell cross section-component and the optimize reinforcement-component?

Best regards

Hello @AM1,
the total mass of reinforcement is the sum of all reinforcement layers over all elements. To get out the reinforcement areas per layer and element see the example ‘OptiShellReinf_I’ in the examples of the K3D installation folder or here at the bottom of the page.
The areas given in the cross-section component define the minimum reinfrocement.
