Onshape 3D and similar apps?

Was trying this onshape 3D on my tablet and quickly got into it as it is similar to solidworks and it’s very enjoyable to model this way

Anyone tried combining this with rhinoceros? Also does anyone know if there are similar apps? Seems like a chill way to create stuff on the go

I tried OnShape when it was in beta like a decade ago. Should try it again…

Runs stable and smooth to seems to have all the good stuff solidworks has it’s quite nice

A decade ago :open_mouth: It’s been in the works for quite some time then

I just checked, it was indeed in 2015 :older_adult:

I reset my password and my test files are still there

I have an iPad Air (5th Gen.) and an Apple Pencil

Seems to export to rhino that’s nice

Apple is nice but to pricey for me for this size 12.7 inch I’d rather build a new desktop if I spend that much, but this could be a nice cheap way for android users since it exports to rhino

And I got irhino it’s just the very sketchy version one

and did you try irhino? it is actually possible to work with its just not that intuitiv in my opinion quite rough around the edges still

Yes I tried iRhino. Took some time to get an Apple Pencil. I like it but sometimes I don’t find out how to do things which is frustrating. I used it mostly to look at files and measure things in the workshop

Autodesk Fusion 360 is quite similar to onshape.

Onshape and Solidworks both use Parasolidkernel in the background (as far as I know).

I just read some founders used to work with solidworks dev no wonder it’s so similar then

seems to export nicely

Rhino to Onshape
Onshape reads/ imports 3dm.

Onshape to rhino
Iges or step.
I had some issues to keep the correct dimension/ units.

What did you use?

i just exported to rhino 3dm file i will check the dimensions

I open “smal objects mm” in rhino then Import

dim most of it seems to work this way for the 3dm export

If you like ipad 3D modeling shapr3D is the tool.
Maybe our @jessesn have things to say about the name but as modeling software has a super good interface.

I’m a n OnShape user and I’ve to say that combines perfectly with rhino. The metal sheet capabilities and the assembly/cinematic/Fem all in one environment makes it amazing good.
The best remain the top-down multi body modelling.

I was just going to say the same, sheet metal!
