Layer original is" “DONJI dio”. Layer “offset” was the first part, and the next 2 layers is where I’m at
I want to make this canal smaller by offsetting it for 5 mm from both sides. Now, my plan was to select this curve, offset it inwards (right) and then sweep along so the radius is the same and constant.
However, I can’t really offset it as you can see. I tried DupEdge - Join - Offset, but this is not the curve I need
As a 2nd option, in layer “offset +5offsrf” i tried offsetting the surface, but i realised I don’t want the surface to go “up”, but only sideways (inwards). So I offsetted only the vertical part without the radius. How do I replicate the radiuses on the new, offsetted part?
I see the way, the problem is, I’m a beginner so I get lost in the “easier” things, i.e. i tried extending the surfaces on your model, but when I extend the first, the second (horizontal) won’t extend for me (picture)
Or perhaps I misunderstood.
If you could post some more screenshots I would be really grateful. If it’s too much for your time I don’t mind paying a beer for it
That surface is a trimmed surface. Work around:
DupEdge
Untrim
ExtendSrf
OffsetCrvOnSrf the duplicated edge curve
Trim
In this situation.
Offset the side surface.
Untrim the side surface and ExtendSrf it if needed so that it will project above the top surface.
Untrim the top surface.
ExtendSrf the top surface if needed so it will intersect the side surface.
Trim the intersecting surfaces.
By the way, the tolerance in your file is 0.29449. The tolerance should be between 0.01 and 0.00001
I was using your file because if I can achieve the result I want on the little segment you did, I should be able to easily replicate on the whole mode.
At the moment I am still getting “Offset curve on surface failed” and “Failed to extend”.
