Offset bump map


Had a student come to me with a file that has textures applied to various surfaces (Windows) and when he tries to apply the same image (just thresholded in PS) as a bump, it shows up fine in Rendered viewport, but when you launch a render, it shows up as significantly offset.

I tried this on my own machine and I get the same result. I really don’t know anything about this stuff - is there something simple that could be causing this?
